- Yoshi's Woolly World Smash Bros Ultimate
As every Smash Bros fan likely knows, alternate costumes are a commonplace thing in the series. Whether it’s alternate colour schemes based on past games or whole new characters treated as a palette swap, they’ve been in every game since the first one and will likely get more and more important in every one since.
Yoshi's Woolly World is a side-scrolling platformer video game developed by Good-Feel and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. The game is the seventh main entry in the Yoshi series of games, the first home console title in the series since 1997's Yoshi's Story, as well as the spiritual successor to. And well, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is obviously no exception. With everything from Link’s Wild set from Breath of the Wild to Mario’s wedding outfit from Odyssey in the game, it’s clear Nintendo is paying homage to even more great games and series there than ever before.
But it seems past games aren’t the only ones to get the nod here. No, as the folks at Source Gaming discovered recently, Yoshi’s Woolly World is getting an outfit based on it too. Yep, the new Yoshi game for Nintendo Switch also has a costume inspired by it in Ultimate, with the design making Yoshi look as though he’s made out of felt like in said title:
It’s a pretty cool look overall, and the material textures really show how far these artworks have come in recent years on the detail side of things.
(Especially if you look at the original, 21MB version with all the details intact!)
What’s more, it’s not the only alt costume to get artwork for it in this game either. Nope, quite a few of the costumes from Ultimate have their own renders as well, with the aforementioned wedding Mario and wild set Link being among them.
So check out some of the others in the gallery below:

A Wild Ptooie Piranha[1][2], also known as Wild Ptooie Piranha Plant[3] or Ptooie Piranha Plant[4], is a Piranha Plant that shoots spiky, often cactus-like enemies at Yoshi. It has a green color, as opposed to the regular red of any Piranha Plant. - 1History

History[edit]Yoshi franchise[edit]Yoshi's Island series[edit]Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Wild Ptooie Piranhas spit three consecutive yellow Needlenoses in the direction of Yoshi, then rest for a brief moment before repeating the attack. The Needlenoses are shot on arcs of varying lengths; the first two Needlenoses are always shot at a close distance while the third one is sent further. If Yoshi comes into contact with a Wild Ptooie Piranha, it will act like a regular Piranha Plant, grabbing him in its mouth for a while and causing him to lose Baby Mario. Wild Ptooie Piranhas can be attacked by throwing objects at them, such as eggs or enemies, and require three such attacks to defeat. They turn yellow with the first hit, then red with the second. They can also be defeated instantly by rolling a Chomp Rock onto them. Yoshi's Island DS[edit]Wild Ptooie Piranhas return in Yoshi's Island DS, acting the same as in the predecessor. Here, they can also be defeated instantly with an egg thrown by Baby Donkey Kong. Yoshi Touch & Go[edit]In Yoshi Touch & Go, Wild Ptooie Piranhas spit Spiny Eggs, which can be destroyed with an egg or a tap on the touchscreen. Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]Wild Ptooie Piranhas reappear in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, acting fairly similarly to previous games. Unlike previously, however, when they are hit with a yarn ball, they do not change to a different color. Their projectiles (Pokey Poms and Shy Guys) also roll along the ground. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Wild Ptooie Piranhas are mentioned briefly by Viridi during Palutena's Guidance dialogue for Piranha Plant.
